In days of yore, if your father was a farmer, dentist, or car dealer, you would be, too. Over the last twenty years, technology has influenced the world tremendously. New jobs that never existed before are now available for those who beginning their studies at the university. Today’s students are focusing their education so they can take advantage of these new job opportunities.
Here are five new types of jobs that have developed recently in this new millennium.
1. Social media marketing. Social media takes the business world down paths that weren’t even envisions ten years ago. Companies are hiring people to write content for their web sites that are optimized to get a high ranking by search engines. They need people who will use Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube in marketing strategies. They need workers who can understand the analytics of a website, affiliate marketing, and pay per click ads.
2. Videographer. With the rise of companies using YouTube in their marketing strategies, the demand for videographers is growing. Companies need people to write script, direct the film making project, and those who create and edit those films.
3. Non-profit organization. NGO companies provide micro-lending to people in poverty stricken places and help them get a business started.
4. Eco-tourism. People are helping countries such as Costa Rica to develop tourism that brings in tourists but does not destroy the nature of the country.
5. Game developers. Computer games have been around for a long time. With the advent of the iOS, games (and other applications) are being developed for mobile technology, the iPhone, iTouch, and iPads.
